Keep Building

During my quiet time I was reading about “word curses” and when spoken can wreck havoc over your life, business, or ministry.

These “word curses, when strategically spoken can have the same effect as an one, two, knockout punch in the boxing ring. The only difference is that the “word” wounds to the soul does not manifest as quickly as the physical wounds.  More importantly, when left unchecked the results can be cancerous to your vision, hopes, and dreams.

The enemy will always attack you in your purpose.  He will always attack when you are moving closer to it.  The attacks can be word curses and people speaking against on your job, business, or the arenas in which you operate.  Other times these attacks can be seemingly unrelated to your purpose or vision.  I pondered on this and I heard that we are so busy watching the “bombs bursting in air,” and all the mayhem the enemy is kicking up around us that we forget that we are in warfare.  We are in a battle.  The enemy does not play fair.  He is out to annihilate you.

Why are you watching the explosive?  You are more powerful than those that are opposing you.  Use the authority on which you stand and put a stop to it.  You have the same power and anointing in you to speak to the raging sea and command it to “be still.”  Pick up your weapon and fight.  Advance toward the enemy, do not turn around, and run.

Pursue the dream that God has given you.  Like Nehemiah, build the wall and fight.  Fight the enemy and build.  For if you put your tool down to fight the enemy, the dream will stop being built, and if you try to build without fighting back you will be defeated.

untitled-designIn Nehemiah 4, Sanballat was indignant that the Jews were rebuilding the wall, restoring, the foundation, and closing the gaps, (weaken walls are entry points for the enemy to gain access, enter in, and take control). They, (Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, and the Ammonites) conspired together to attack and create confusion.  This did not deter Nehemiah, because he

  • Prayed to God
  • He was on the lookout (set a watch) against them night and day.

Sanballat, sent “word curses) through letters of discouragement, lies, false prophecy, and started rumors against Nehemiah to stir fear in Nehemiah and the hearts of the people. Nehemiah resolved in his heart that he would not stop until the wall was built, restored, and completed.

Lies, false accusation, rumors, and misunderstandings will come to shut your mouth and halt your vision.  Think it not strange when these things happen to you. You do not have time to look at what the enemy is doing, therefore, do not fix your eyes on his strategies.  Keep your eyes and mind focused on the fact
1) that the battle is yours
2) victory is certain
3) Fight and build
4) Build and fight
Do not let the enemy steal your vision and/or your purpose.  If you are a threat to the kingdom of darkness, you are on His hit list.  Time to rise up and stand in the authority that God has to you.  No more fitting in. People are looking for real answers and real solutions.  #rescriptyourlifeforsuccess #fightenemy #allpowerisgiventome #yourweaponisprayer #action

It Is a Matter of FACT!

News flash: It is all about you.

Check the FACT; your

Feelings
Actions
Confessions
Thoughts
are attracting to you what you are.

Feelings-I often hear people talk about their feelings as if it’s a spell that someone put on them. No, you have control over your feelings and emotions. If not, you should. No one can make you feel a certain way. You choose to respond in the way that you do to a given set of circumstances that you’re faced. You “get in your feelings,” as they say. Until you determine that you will control your feelings and emotions you will keep tripping over the same reactions. I am not saying to ignore your feelings or stuff them inside. I am saying deal with them, question them, and ask yourself why you feel the way that you do.

Journal Time –
Think about your feelings that you often attribute to others. He/she makes me feel…
Why do I react the way I do when….
When this happens, (whatever this is)……… I lose total control

Actions-We know that our actions are the results of our thoughts and feelings. We become programmed to act a certain way based on a given set of circumstances. What is your reaction when something does not turn out the way you expected? Cuts you off while driving? Someone forgets a very important task or assignment? Do your actions alleviate or exacerbate the situation? Have you thought of responding differently? What’s INSANITY?? Expecting different results but doing the SAME thing.

Journal Time
Think about the last time you overreacted. Think how could you have responded differently?
What about a time when something called for a strong response and you passively dealt with it out of fear or to keep peace? What might you have done differently? How will you respond the next time?

Confessions-This is a biggie. I listen to people speaks and what they are saying all the time, and without fail their confessions does not line up to their goals or desires. It’s almost like planting a rose bush but waiting for the magnolia tree to grow. You desired one, but with your mouth you sowed the other. Work smarter by ensuring your feelings, actions, and thoughts align with your confessions. It’s been said out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. What’s truly in your heart will come out of your mouth.

Journal Time
What are you confessing?
Think about what comes out of your mouth during the course of a day.
What are you saying to and about yourself? “I’ m stupid, I knew I would get it wrong; I can’t do this, I hope to one day…., Maybe, I will. I knew I wouldn’t get the job, etc.”
Identify what you are saying and change it to align with your expected outcome.  Example-instead of saying, “I’ m stupid, I knew I would get it wrong, perhaps you can  say I need to take the time to  rethink this, or when I slow down I can focus better.”

Thoughts-Your thoughts are the driving force of your life. Your mind is programmed to deliver to you exactly what you ask. It cannot distinguish between what is right or wrong, that’s your job. Nor can it distinguish between reality and fantasy. Once again you are the programmer. You determine what you think by what you allow to influence you. Your associations, conversations, what you’re listen to-choice of music, what you’re watch –chose of entertainment, what you’re reading, and who you’re following. These all influence the hundreds of thoughts, which run through your mind in a given day.

Journal time-
Think about what you are thinking? In the educational setting, this is call metacognition.
What thoughts come to your mind during the day? Why? When?
Analyze your thoughts-are they encouraging and life-giving, or demeaning and life draining?
When thinking about yourself and others your thoughts tend to be…..

In reviewing, the main FACT, begin aligning your feelings, actions, confessions, and thoughts. It is not too late to get on the right track. Today is a GREAT day for a change. Become your best friend and stop being your worst enemy. Not only will it enhance your life, but it will add value to those around you.

Journal time
What are your core values, the guiding principles of your life?
Do you know what they are or do they change based on the company you keep. Answer these questions to help you Reconnect or to find who you really are.

In my next blog, we will define what values are and what they are not.

Achieving Goals in 2014

Do not waste your time writing another New Year resolution.  It does not matter how badly you want to change, break a habit, or start a new one, it will not happen.  The truth of the matter is… we waste a lot of time, unnecessarily; at the beginning of each year or the ending of the preceding year, vowing that this year will be different.  For years, I was a chartered member of this club, writing details goals and plans, only to look up and six months later; the 30lbs I wanted to lose was still sitting in my lap; the book I wanted to write was partially typed on my laptop; and the debt I wanted to payoff was a monster holding it’s ground glaring back at me.

Wow.  You are probably saying how encouraging coming from a life coach.

It is not meant to be discouraging or to make you feel good about.  In fact, I am not going to blog anything that you probably have not already heard or read before.  However, what I hope to do is motivate, encourage, and inspire you to set goals, create action steps, and live the life that you were meant to live by being a doer and not a thinker.  According to R.L. Adams in “The Millionaire Method,” people are divided into two categories, the thinkers, and the doers.  Thinkers’ key word is “should.”  “I should write the book or I should go to the gym today.”  Doers, on the other hand live by a different code and their key word is “must.”  “I must write the book or I must go to the gym today.”  There is a huge difference between knowing what to do and doing it.
You have an original design.  God has a specific design and plan for you.  He wants you to be ALL that he created you to be.  Then life happens.  We are birth into an imperfect society where circumstances and events begin to chip away at our destiny, skew our perceived image of ourselves, and affect that original design.  Then the inevitable happen.  We replace the truth, “That I’m fearfully and wonderfully made,” and begin to live a life of mere existence with no passion or purpose.

Look, around you, the Infinite God of Heaven & Earth, the creative genius that He is, does not just design and create anything without a purpose.  Have you ever thought about the fact that no two people in the entire word, past, present, or future have the same fingerprints.  What does this mean to you?  God is calling you back to the Master Plan, the original design, purpose, and passion He placed in you.  My goal today is that you will walk away renewed, be inspired to step up, and turn that dream into a goal.  As a Life Coach, I walk besides you, help you discover your uniqueness, and enable you to live a full and purposeful life, being the best You, that you can be.

Let me create a picture in your mind.  Imagine the following scenario-

Not having goals in your life is comparable to going to the airport, approaching the ticket agent and asking for a ticket to go some place.  The puzzled but polite agent will probably ask,

Agent-Ma’am, where would you like to go?
You-I don’t know, just send me someplace nice.
Agentlooking confuse– Alright, would that be someplace, warm or cold?  What would you like to do?  Will this trip be for business or pleasure?  How much money do you have to spend?  How long would you to stay?  Are traveling with a companion or solo?
You-Well..  I don’t know where I want to go.  I just want to go away for a few days and have a great time.
Agent-I have a seat left for Europe.  May I have your credit card ma’am?
You-
I don’t want to go there and I can’t afford that flight.
Agent – How about a ticket to New York?
You-Nope.
Agent-Well, Ma’am – If you don’t know where you want to go, then any place will do.

OUR LIFE WILL YIELD THE SAME RESULTS WHEN WE FAIL TO PLAN AND WRITE OUT THE VISION FOR OUR LIFE.

You are going to pay a price –YOU HAVE TO consider the cost

Living a purposeful life on target or living a life filled with various activities with no clear focus. You must have a vision of what you want your life to look like. Otherwise, someone will take you to a place or create the life they deem appropriate and good for you…only because you DO NOT HAVE ANY criteria, standards, or goals in mind.
Bill Copeland –“The trouble with not having a goal is that you can spend your life running up and down the field and never score.”
What is a Goal?  A GOAL IS A ROADMAP.  It provides answers to questions like…what do I want to be?  What do I want to do?  What do I want more or less of?  What lifestyle do I want?  How much money do I want to save?

GOALS ARE SMART

S-specific          M-measurable               A-achievable                 R-realistic         T-time-specific

SpecificA goal is specific when you can describe it concretely to others.
Example:
“I want to be wealthy” is not a specific goal—how much money is that?  “I want to be a millionaire by the time I’m 40,” or “I want to be able to retire at my current income when I’m 60” is specific.

Measurable: You need to be able to tell when you have accomplished it.
Example: “I want to be a better communicator” is not a measurable goal—how do I know when I am “better”?  “I want to improve my public speaking skills by joining Toastmaster this year” is a measurable goal.

Attainable: It cannot be a pipe dream or something unrealizable.
Example: “I want to get married by the end of the year is probably unrealistic if you are single and are not currently seeing or dating anyone.  Another unrealistic goal would be losing 25lbs or learning Arabic in two months.

Relevant: A goal is relevant when it is important to you—when it references your values.
Example: “I want to be making all our payments on time by December” is a relevant goal for someone who is in financial difficulty and is tired of it.

Time-specific: Goals are not open-ended—they have dates attached.
Example: “I want to start a home for teens trapped in sex-trafficking” is not time-specific; while “I want to obtain property and licenses to start a home for teens trapped in sex-trafficking in the next five years” is.

A goal is NOT a dream.  Dreams are unrefined hopes, or cost-free aspirations we might do some day.  Some dreams may come true, while others may not.  It really does not matter.
Converting a dream or objective to a goal is a decision to take tangible steps to pursue it.
Goals are specific, future targets that we are committed to becoming or accomplishing in an action-oriented, time specific way.
